creating/using templates

I created, named and saved a template for video "T"
scripts but when I tried to actually "fill in the blanks"
later,all I did was mess up the template, none of the
fields stayed in place. I need to find something where I
can fill in the blanks without recreating the format
everytime I need to use it, I have nine projects for this
semester. Maybe I need something other than a template,
but I don't know what to use.
