Custom resource views in PWA

Greg

Hi,

We use some resource outline codes that the resource manager would like
to filter on in the resource views in PWA. The custom filter dalog
allows this filtering but will not display a list of the possible
outline code values (i.e. combo box) from which to choose. I appreciate
that a value can be entered specifically but for our skill set code
there are far too many for the RM to remember, plus it has a fairly
complex hierarchy.

What I find odd is that this functionality is present on the "Build
Team" filter view.

I need to add this functionality to the resource view to make it usable
so my questions are :

- Is there a way of customizing or replacing the current filter popup
dialog?
- Is there a way of adding the "Build Team" filter element to the
resource view pages,
- Is there a way to build a resource view page from scratch?

Thanks in advance,

Greg

There is an easy solution to your problem. First of all, ask your Project
Server administrator to create a custom Resource Center view that contains
your organization's custom Resource fields and outline codes, along with any
other required information your RM's need to see. Then ask your RM's to
navigate to the Resource Center page and do the following:

1. Click the Choose a View pick list in the upper right corner and to
select the new custom View
2. Click the Filter, Group, Search tab to expand the tab options
3. Select the AutoFilter option
4. Click the Filter, Group, Search tab to collapse the tab options

At the top of every column in the View, your RM's will now see a gray
Autofilter arrow button.

5. Click the AutoFilter arrow button for the field on which the RM wishes
to filter, and select a filter value from the pick list.

This should meet your reporting criteria and make it easier for your RM's.
Hope this helps.

Hi Dale,

Thanks for you speedy reply. Yes that does indeed help. I may still
have to create a custom resource view page at some point, but that is
for another reason, and another post, if and when I get there!

Thanks again for your help

Cheers,

Greg
