Customize Gantt chart timeline range

Panos

How can I set the Gantt chart to print only the time range as defined by the
tasks, rather than whatever it accepts as default?

In other words, I've got a project whose tasks last only 3 months, but the
gantt chart time range is 5 years. How do I get rid of the extra time on
either sides?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Panos,

You can control the specific dates that are printed in the File>Print dialog
box under the Timescale options.

Usually the date range it picks up the project start date and end date, so I
find it a bit odd that it is printing 5 years. Is it possible that you have
some "rogue" tasks out 5 years?

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Julie,

I believe you are referring to the format>timeline option. I have already
tried that but still, it won't give me the option to limit the time range of
the Gantt chart.

Maybe I was not as clear as I intended. The Gantt chart, and subsequently
the printout, gives a time range from Sept 2004 to July 2005, while I'm only
interested for the time period between Feb 2005 to May 2005. What I want is
limit the timeline to the later, i.e. have the same result as option
view>zoom>selected task gives you.

Thanks for your time.

PS: there are definatelly no rogue tasks.

Hi Panos,

I think we have two separate issues - what you see and what you print.

The ability to control what *prints* from the Gantt chart is controlled in
the File>Print dialog box under the Timescale options.

What you view on the screen is controlled in the View>Zoom command. As far
as *seeing* only a specific time range, you may select the tasks between the
dates you want and select View>Zoom and the selected tasks option.

Sorry if the original answer was less than clear and please let me know if
this has helped.
