Customizing - xp

My work PC has just ben upgraded to windows XP but I
still have Outlook 2000 - I can't customize outlook
(pressing the button has no effect at all) is this common
and what, if anything, can I do to change it (it means
that my task list is set to default and shows all taks
rather than just the ones which are due or over due)
