Hi
I have this same problem in word 200o. It automaticallu updates the dates on my old documents even though I have automatic update unchecked in the date/time area. How do I correct this?

Press Alt-F9 in your document. Where the field shows either TIME or DATE,
change it to CREATEDATE. Then press F9. Then press Alt-F9.

You should open your template containing the field and change it there, too.

The checking/unchecking of automatic update only works before you insert the
date. Once it is inserted, it stays the way you set it.

By the way, when you want answers to your problems here, you are best off
either simply reading the answers given others or starting your own thread.
Most people who answer questions here, seeing the two who already provided
answers, would probably skip reading your post. For more posting
suggestions, look under "getting help" on the MVP FAQ site.
