Dead line format length

I have tried to insert a vertical line for a milestone, but this will only
extend 40cm and my project is considerably bigger than that. I am using
project 2000, can I do this in 2000 or is there a solution in 2003?

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup

There's no way round this. Project's graphics abilities are very primitive.
You could keep drawing lines
