debugging

Occasionally Power Point will hang and the only way to get it to respond is to end task from the Task Manager. When trying to do this I recieve the message that the program is being debugged and can't be shut down. after about 7-10 minutes the program will finally close. Is there any way to turn off the debugger, so it dosn't take so long for the program to close
