General Confusion

When I open Word, it's defaulting to a right-justified heading style, rather
than defaulting to the left justified Normal style. How do I fix this?

Open Normal.dot for editing, select the default empty paragraph, and apply
the Normal style. Save and close.

General Confusion

Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I located Normal.dot and opened it. I went
to Format>Styles and Formatting, clicked Normal. Attempting to save, it's
defaulting to saving as a .doc file. When I attempt to save it as
"Normal.dot", it tells me "Word cannot give a document the same name as an
open document...".

Thanks, Suzanne. I'll give it a shot. :)

Sounds like you created a new document based on Normal.dot (if you just
double-clicked on it in an Explorer window, this is what happened, since the
default action for .dot files is New). For instructions on opening
Normal.dot for editing, see
