Hi Alison,

The Insert=>Diagram=>Org chart applet within Word/Powerpoint
is fairly basic in its capabilities. The more fully featured
one is in MS Office Visio. (http://office.microsoft.com/visio)
or the enhanced version of the former MS Org Chart applet from
http://orgplus.com by Human Concepts.

You can create an org chart layout in Word and apply your own
colors (but don't click on the Autoformat feature after that).
You can then select the diagram and select
Insert=>Autotext=>New and save that
chart in your Autotext collection, as one option.

You can also download and install the older MS Org Chart v2 applet
into Office 2003 and create the orgchart separately in it's
..OPX file formats (the applet also works outside of MS Word).

Hi Bob, Thank you for your suggestions. I like the Auto text method, works
well in Word. Is there a way to make this work in powerpoint too? While I
know how to customise the chart, I just don't know how to force this to be
the default style. Is there a way it can be built into the slide master
