Defining formula custom field based on another custom field value

I've been trying to define a new custom field formula based on a different
custom field's value. I've named it with [CustomFieldName] value, but it
complains about undefined field. How do I reference another custom field in a
formula?

Nik003,
Even though you rename a field, it still retains its original identity.
Therefore when referencing that field in a formula, use its basic name,
not the new name you gave it.

So what is the basic name? When you define a custom field, that's the only
place where you name it. Isn't that the name? Does it get assigned a name
somewhere else? All these fields are defined in PWA, not through Office
Project Professional. (You are probably referring to something like
Enterprise Project Outline Code 01, right?) In PWA on EPM 2007 you don't
rename an already defined code, you just create new ones from scratch.

Nik003,
OK, different animal. You are talking Project Server and PWA. This
newsgroup is dedicated to the stand alone version of Project, so I
assumed you were working with that. You might want to try posting to our
sister newsgroup, microsoft.public.project.server
