Delays when Opening Files

No matter which Office product I use, it takes several seconds each time I
try to use the OPEN and Look In commands to select files from different
folders and directories. What is causing this problem? It seems as though
it started when Microsoft started all the Security updates.

When looking at the Windows Task Manager during the waiting period of 10-30
seconds before the folder Opens or Changes to the new Directory; I also
notice that the Status is "Not Responding" until the command is finally
executed and then changes back to a Status of "Running".

Also monitoring the memory and processes running their is ample resources to
execute the program commands.

Does anyone have an explanation for this or some suggestions for a resolution?
