Deleted a task - other unrelated tasks got disturbed

Hi, I had a task. It is not linked to any other task. But when I delete this
task from the view, all other tasks above it are disturbed. I mean the start
and finish times of other tasks are chaging automatically. I could not find
any link or special properties of the task that I am deleting.

Select Tools, Level Resources... and make sure you have manual levelling
selected. At the same time click Clear levelling so you can get clear on
where your schedule is at.

Hi Rod,

Thanks for the input. I tried these steps. But I still see the problem. Let
me restate the problem. The task I want to delete

1. Does not have any resource assigned,
2. Does not have any link with any other task.

But while deleting this task, the timelines are changing for tasks that are
above this in the group.

Hi Nirakar ,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Make certain that in Tools/Options.../Schedule tab "Autolink inserted or
moved tasks" is turned off: ie no check mark.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Hi Mike,

I unchecked this option. Then I deleted the task I wanted to delete. But
still the other tasks above it are getting disturbed. This is a strange
problem.

I don't know how to better describe the problem. You want to see the mpp file?

Thanks,
Nirakar
