DELETING NORMAL.DOT TEMPLATE TEXT

Everytime I start my WORD program, instead of getting a blank document when I
want to start a new doecument, I get an old document that I typed a long time
ago. How do I delete this document permanently, prevent it from showing up,
and get my blank document space back?
