deleting the autoshape from hell

I've got the oddest autoshape. I keep selecting it and deleting it, but it
stays. if i select and move it, a copy moves. if i turn it, it stays, but a
copy turns. Any ideas?

Sounds like you have multiple superimposed copies of the autoshape. Select
the arrow tool on Drawing toolbar. Drag a rectangle around the shape. Press
Delete.
