Description details for custom text fields

I have created a number of custom text fields in my project schedule for
values lists. Some of them are numbers that to anyone outside the project
team would have not value. Is there a way to extract the value and the
description to be included in "some" view?

Michele,
There are probably various ways depending on what you mean by, "...
included in "some" view?". For example, you mentioned "extract the
value". To me this implies a VBA macro to either query the value list
value and pop up a message or send the information to another
application.

The most obvious solution is to include a short (couple of words)
explanation along with each value. If that just isn't feasible or
desirable how about putting the information in the Task Notes or a spare
text field. Be careful though, text in the Notes field will truncate at
the first line feed if the Notes field is displayed in a view column.

Again, there might be other options depending on the specifics.
