dictionary icon

How can I get rid of the annoying dictionary icon on the bottom "toolbar",
the toolbar that has Page, Sec, Ln, Col on it, I don't know what it is
called. It has a dictionary icon that flips pages.

If you hover the mouse over it, you will see that it is the Spelling and
Grammar Status button. Dismiss it by clearing the check boxes for "Check
spelling as you type" and "Check grammar as you type" on the Spelling and
Grammar tab of Tools | Options.

Thank you for your reply. I already did what you suggested, plus everything
else I could think of, it still remains. I tried closing Word and then
reopening it, but this nasty little icon remains. Thanks, Jeanne

Works for me in Word 2003.
