Directory services not working in Exchange

Hello good people.
Just installed the latest update and managed to set it up so I now can
recive and and send via exchange.
Now to the problem. My deirectory service is just refusing to work.
I'v set it up exactly as it was under my IMAP account and it keeps
throwing an error message back saying that authentication faild. Now,
we don't have any identification on the LDAP server and there's no
possibility of ignoring it in the settings.
When I tried to create a new one under IMAp and making this default it
doesn't work either kickin' up the same error message as before. BUT,
if I go under Tools and Directory services I can then search on the
IMAP created one but not on the Exchange.
I've tried to delete the Exchhange on but Entourage doesn't allow me
to.
Anyone had any luck on this one. Seems like it's lacking some very
vital features.
If I recreate my old IMAP account with the same directory services in
Entourage all works fine, Apple's address book works fine but the new
Entourage update does not.

I unfortunately have to agre with you on that one. I had really high
hopes that they would come trough on this one but once again the mac
version has been released half coocked without proper testing.
Matter of a fact is that this is not even a pure exchange client but a
IMAP hybrid.

I too wish that the Entourage update offered as much functionality as
Outlook 2001, but IMAP is actually a step in the right direction.

Outlook and Exchange have historically used MAPI, which is a Microsoft
proprietary protocol. Entourage is actually an email client that is done
right (kind of like Safari). It supports standard Internet protocols, such
as POP, SMTP and MAPI, and standard MBOX format message files, not the
Microsoft proprietary .pst files.
