Discussion form handler

I have generated a discussion web using FrontPage 2003, but I want the
format of the posted messages to be different from what is offered by the
FrontPage "discussion form handler". For instance, the default format of
posting that the discussion form handler generates includes a line just
above the top of the main text of the posting that says "Comments", which is
unnecessary so I want to omit this line. How would I go about making his
change so that it applies automatically to all postings? If I can do that
then I imagine I could automatically do lots of other things to the postings
as well...

Write your own Discussion component with the desired functions. FP's
Discussion isn't very flexible.

I would like to use FP's Discussion component as a starting point for
designing a more sophisticated discussion, but I haven't yet found FP's
component . The process whereby my designed website gets published as a
fully working website is still a bit mysterious to me. I have searched high
and low for information on how to do this, but all the information I have
found assumes that you are configuring the basic FP component through the
standard FP dialog boxes.

So, how do I get started using FP's Discussion component as a baseline
design for me to build my own sooper-dooper component? Usually, once I am
pointed in the right direction I can go quite a way under my own steam.

You can't, as the functionality is built into the FP Server Extensions.

You need to build one based on using a database and server-side script, (such as ASP, ASP.net, PHP,
etc.) whatever is supported by your web host.

FYI: The FP extensions are being phased out by some web host, so it would not be a good idea to
develop a application based on them.
