Display a resource´s average allocation over a specific period.

Hello,

I have a problem in MS Project 2007 that I would be very happy if
someone could help me with.

I would like to get an overview over how much a certain resource is
allocated over a specific period. For example, "what is resources X
average allocation to the project between 25th pf Sept and 15th of
Oct?". So, 200% allocation one day and 0% allocation the next will give
a 100% average allocation over that two day period :) How do I display
that?

Thank you very much for your help.

Best regards,
Nicklas

Hello Nicklas,

Display the resource usage view and add the Percent Allocation to the right
(timescaled) side through Format > Detail Styles.

The percent allocation shown is per time displayed -- the zoom
magnification. If you are looking at daily information, the percent
allocation is the percent allocation for that day. If you zoom out you will
see percent allocation for week, per month, per what ever zoom you select.

I hope this helps.

Hi Julie,

Thanks for your quick reply. Im am not sure it is exactly what I am
looking for though? I want to be able to choose the date of range where
a want the details. The project is devided into phases and I want to see
each person average allocation over an entire phase. Is that possible in
the function you described?

Thanks again.

Best regards,
Nicklas

Hello Nicklas,

I'm sorry for not understanding your full requirements on your first
read. Although you can show Percent Allocation in either the
Resource Usage and Task Usage view, I don't believe you can specify
a particular zoom percentage that does not fit a standard day, week,
month time frame.

I've been playing with the Resource Usage cube to see if it can work
with custom data in the manner you are looking for -- but I'm afraid
I don't see that as a possibility either.
