Documents slow to load from My Recent Documents, Not from Word

We noticed a problem on one of our workstations that if you double click on a
file in the My Recent Documents Menu, It can take a minute or more for Word
to load and then it will take just as long for the document to load. If you
open the same document from Word's Open File menu. It loads immediately.
Opening Word directly is quick.
The problem seems to be in launching the document first instead of launching
the app. I have tried opening local files vs. network files, there was no
difference.

We need lots more detail to even begin to take a guess at that one.

What OS are you using? Version? Version of Word? Update level? File
server?

With no indication of what operating system or version of Word you're using
there's no way anyone can offer a meaningful reply. If you are using a Mac
[this is the Mac Word newsgroup] please provide al the missing pieces of the
puzzle. If you're using a Windows PC you'll find the Windows Office groups
here:

http://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/FlyoutOverview.mspx

They'll need the same version & OS information.
