Does Resource Pool Hold Old Data?

We have a resource pool with about 150 resources that is linked to 24
projects of various sizes. This pool is about 10Mb in size and takes several
seconds to load (which doesn't sound too bad but gets annoying). I expect
there is a lot of information maintained in the pool (e.g. we use and like
the fact that you can pull up the resource graph to view loading in
aggregate). My questions is: Is the 10Mb all current, useful data or is
there data maintained from old projects or alternate versions of projects
that are no longer linked? If so, can this information be removed to shrink
the file size and, hopefully, speed up its loading? Or can the file be made
significantly smaller some other way?

Thanks in advance,
Will

You can try opening in write mode then immediately saving again before doing
anything else. That is the only time Project does any file housekeeping.

The only other way is to unattach all projects from the pool
Delete the pool
Create a new pool out of a new, blank project
Attach all projects to the new pool.
Save the pool. The new file size will be as small as it can get.
