double messages

I have a client who is getting duplicate messages in Outlook; only happens on her PC (tried the account at another PC) but I do not know where to find the problem. Any help is appreciated.

What type of e-mail service are we talking about? In case of POP3; does this
user have two accounts configured with the same POP3 server?

POP3, and only one account. It started about 2 weeks ago with 2 copies of
every message; now it's 4 copies of every message...but only on that one PC.
Have looked for virii and spyware, ANYTHING, but nothing seems extraordinary
about the PC or the account.

Is there a firewall installed on this PC? (in the case of Windows XP mind
the built-in one on the properties for that connection). It probably holds
back the conformation packets send back to the server so the server
continues to offer you the file. Try disabling it a see if it still happens.
If not you'll need to reconfigure/update your firewall.
