Doubling-up on hours

Hi

I have a simple set of task that have a parent / summary task.

For some reason that I cannot fathom, when I enter, say 50h, into the
first tasks duration the summary duration shows 100h even though none of
the other tasks have anu hours allocated. It's as if project is
doubling-up on hours for some reason.

Each task has a resource allocated (the same resource) and the tasks
have been made sequential by linking.

I am sure this must be a newbie-style question, but it has me
confused!!

Cheers All

Regards

Andy

Duration is working time taken to do the Work. Work and Duration are
different. If a Resource is assigned at 50% then 50h of work take 100h
duration. So what duration do all your tasks have? Assuming they all follow
one after the other, summary task duration is the sum of all sub tasks.
Total Work in the Summary is always total Work for all Sub Tasks.

Hi Andy,

In addition to Rod's suggestion -- just to check -- you don't have
your resource assigned to the summary task do you?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
