downloading messages from a pop account

I have set up my Outlook to my excite account. I am able to send out emails but when I want to download the messages from my excite account I continue to get the message
A timeout occurred while communicating with the server. Account pop3.excite.com. POP3 Server: 'pop3.excite.com', Error Number: 0x800ccc19

does excite support pop3 and is that the correct server name? Are you using an antivirus scanner or firewall? does it work if you disable them?

Hello Diane
It is a pop3 account and I am positive that it is correct. I do have Norton Antivirus software but when I disable it for scanning incoming emails I still get an error message saying that the TCP/IP connection was unexpectedly terminated by the server.
