Drawing in Publisher

David Brown

I have windows XP with Publisher 2000, and Draw 98. I have
recently posted a request for information regarding a
problem I am having with my drawing tools while using
Publisher. The drawing is becoming distorted after I go
out of the drawing box, (Prints that way, as well).

The suggestion was to check http://office.microsoft.com to
see which updates are available. I have given up looking
for an update that will solve my problem and just want to
risk getting the latest version of Publisher and Draw with
hopes that it will fix my problem. With Windows XP as my
operating system, what version of Publisher and Draw
should I get, and how do I get Draw?
Regards,
David Brown

Microsoft Draw was the last version of Draw produced, and Microsoft
Publisher 2000 was the last version to include Draw as such.
As you have Windows XP, I would recommend getting Publisher 2003. Both
Publisher 2002 and 2003 include the Escher Shared Drawing Tools from the
rest of Office, which means that you don't have to insert a Drawing object
to access the shared drawing tools like you did in Publisher 2000.

Thank you, Ed, Thank you very very much.
Now then, Since I am using Office 2000, (Small Business),
and I get Publisher 2003 with this thing that, you
call, "Escher Shared Drawing Tools from the rest of
Office". Would you also advise that I pick up a new
version of Office? It seems like it would make sense to
do, given that I often use Word and Publisher in
conjunction with one another.
By the way; if you happened to read one of my later Posts;
(Publisher and MS drawing tools, 12/31/03 6:19 PM); I
would really like to solve this problem with the MS
products that I am used to working with rather than Adobe,
as I do agree with the response to that post regarding,
learning curve with the Adobe products. I hope you will be
gracious enough to excuse my sniveling, and allow me to
come back aboard.
Humble and Thankful,
David Brown

Maybe "copy and paste" instead of "insert" ? Sometimes
that works for me. (Make sure nothing is "selected" in
the target, this can give you unexpected results whether
you paste or insert.)

No probs :). These things can get frustrating sometimes.

I would. Office 2003 is a great improvement from Office 2000.
I believe you will be entitled to an upgrade version of Office 2003, and I
would go for one of the editions that contains Publisher (either SBE or
Professional).
