Duration is way too long.

Hi all,

This morning I was replanning a project plan, where appaers something
strange with the duration of a task.

I have a task in Project which is starting 21 march and finishing 16
october, although it is only 5,5 days of work, one resource with 70% of
units assinged! I would expect it to end somewhere the end of march.

The task type is Fixed Work (so the same as fixed units in this case,
since only one resource assinged). The resource is also not assigned to
other tasks in the meantime.


What could be the underlying problem?

It can be a few things.

Does the resource have non-working time on it's calendar?

Is there a predessor on the task or maybe at the summary level (which you
shouldn't have anyway).

Was any actuals recorded in a future date.

These are just some possibilitied I can think of off the top of my head.
