Duration not changing

When a task is completed before the deadline schedules shouldn't the total
duration
on the job change? 3 of my tasks were completed well in advance of their
deadline..
but my duration did not change at all. I used the % complete arror in my
gantt view to show how much of a job was completed.
Any help would be really appreciated.

Hi,

When you tell Project a job is 100% complete it doesn't have a clue when it
was completed so yiut takeds teh planned finish date.
How would it know?
You could enter actual duration or once it is 100% complete simply change
duration.

Thanks for your reply.
I tried chaning the duration of the task to the actual duration
it took, but the total duration of the job did still not change.

Could you specify the exact steps?
For instance:
- First entered 100%
Then entered duration
Or then enterd actual duration...

Hi,
Well i figured out what I was doing wrong. I guess I needed to add the date
the task was completed in the actual finish date area.
