Duration vs work roll ups

I am having difficulty in finding any info regarding duration vs work.
The two are supposed to be linked via the following formula Duration X
Units = Work.

I have the duration set in Days
The units are always 1 in my case
there is only 1 resouce assigned
100% of their time for this specific project
they only work on 1 project at a time
they only work 8 hours per day in project (Standard calendar)

The problem is that when I assign a subtask a value of 1 day(s), that
line shows 8 hours of work. However, when those tasks are rolled up to
the summary line, that 8 hours of work turns into 16 or even 24 in some
cases. The case that I am working on now is a project that has the
following tasks:

kickoff (0 duration)
Outline (0.5 days D)
Power Point (1 D)
Draft (2 D)
Edit ( 0.5 D)
Final copy (0.5 D)
Production Upload (0.5 D)

So in this example there should be a total of 5 days (Which should be
40 hours). However in the summary line it shows 5d duration but 120
hours work.

How can I get this fixed so that the work rolled up shows the correct
amount of hours?

Do you have any resources assigned at the summary task? if you do, you
shouldn't. Take them off and see if that helps.

Never mind, I figured it out. This was driving me crazy, but th
solution is so simple, that I over looked it. I had a resource assigne
to the summary tasks as well as the actual tasks. Thus it wa
calculating the work by that resource twice or three times dependin
upon how many sub task roll ups there were
