Edit live with FTP...not so fast

I just tried it and here were the results.
The only options I got were to:
Create a location on my machine to transfer files.
The live site opened in the remote ( right ) side of the publisher window.
My only option was to "Publish" files to my machine.

Unless I did something wrong, this isn't going to work.
Especially with includes, DWTs and Master pages because
it appears that I would have to remember all of the pages that
use the include, etc and publish them to my machine, edit and then
publish back to the server.

Comments please.
