Editing htm Word files programmatically

is it possible to copy the part of the content of an htm word file and merge
it with another htm word file and get a working merged file out of it?

Theoretically yes, it is a fallback design I have had on standby for
years. However, in this day and age, you are far better off using Save
As XML as it fully round-trips.
