Elapsed duration tasks - start hour - MS-Project 2003

I am defining a new calendar called "Afternoon". Working hours are from 1:00
p.m.to 9:00 p.m.
Next I assign this calendar to my project in the Project information dialog
box and I set the default start hour at Menu/Tools/Options/Calendar at 1:00
p.m. and the default finish hour at 9:00 p.m. Working hours are changed to
48hrs a week.
So as far as I know all the initial configuratrions are made.

When I enter a task, let us say with a duration of 1 day, Project schedules
it correctly starting at 1:00 p.m.
However if I state a duration of 1ed, (1 elapsed day), task is scheduled to
start at 8:00 a.m. (seemingly it does not take into account the project
calendar when the duration is stated as elapsed)

Although I could make a walkaround forcing the task that has an elapsed
duration to have "Aftenoon" as its task calendar I find this rather clumsy to
do.

Although I know that elapsed would mean 24 hrs a day I want to start at the
same time than the other tasks (1:00 p.m.) of the project.

Anybody has any suggestion to correct this strange behaviour?

NOTE: I believe that this behaviour occurs in some files and not in others,
depending on the PC where you are working, but I did not find any difference
in the options dialog box of the different files.

Hello Reuben, I think we can help you.
Three places require changes.
1. On the "Afternoon" calendar (Tools/Change Working Time.. New Calendar.).
I think you have already done this part.
2. On that same screen where you input the daily work hours, look for a
button at the bottom of the window that says "Options." Click on that and
change the defaults to match your Afternoon calendar.
3. Project/Project Information... make sure the start date also contains the
1:00PM start such as 07/17/2007 1:00 PM.

I hope all is well...

Thank you very much Jim. I believe that I had forgotten to put the start hour
(step 3)
Best Regards
