elements moving around

I'm working on a big presentation and decided to duplicate a slide I was
working on and then replace an element (a picture in this case), however when
I try to paste the picture everything moves around and resizes. Is there a
way to prevent this?

Go to Tools > Autocorrect Options > AutoFormat as You Type and uncheck
"Automatic layout for inserted objects".

Sometime clicking undo will undo the auto formatting that
occurred with your paste...
