Email account receving problems

I set up Outlook 2000 to handle my Cox email account and
it worked just fine for a few days, but all of a sudden
developed a problem receiving emails. If I click the
sned/receive button, I keep getting a dialogue popup
requesting my username/password (didn't used to get this
since it is already set up in the properties). When I do
enter the info, it continually returns and I get the
following message, "that there was a problem loggin on to
the server". However, if I try to send a message from
Outlook it works just fine?? I'm not sure what caused
this sudden problem, and I'm pretty certain I set up the
account correctly and haven't done anything to corrupt
the settings (have even tried a couple times to delete
and re-add the mail account). Any ideas? --Thanks
