email phot attachments

can anyone tell me why i receive emails with photos IN the email (not
attached seperatly) that show up only as a large square where the jpeg
should be, with a small red box in the center, with an X in the center of
the red box.
thanks to anyone who can help!

You know, it is hard enough to answer questions where the person provides
the relevant information (Outlook version, mail editor, type of account,
