Email stuck in Deleted Items folder (2007)

Using Outlook 2007, I accidentally hit the delete key for the wrong
email. I can see it in the Deleted Items folder, but cannot move it
back to the Inbox or to any other folder. I've tried dragging it,
Ctrl-Shift-V, and right-click + Move. They all appear to work, but the
email remains in the Deleted Items folder.

Can someone help me move it back?

After successfully moving a copy of the item (from the Deleted Items
folder), why not just hit Del on the unwanted copy still back in the
Deleted Items folder?

I was not able to move or copy it from the Deleted Items folder to
anywhere else.

After doing a little more research, I came across an article that
suggested rebooting in Safe Mode. I tried that, but when I clicked on
the item in the Deleted Items folder, it disappeared completely. Could
not find it anywhere.

I gave up and rebooted normally and, by magic, there it was, back in
the Deleted Items folder, but now I was able to move it back to the
Inbox.

I swear Office was designed by the Marx Brothers.

Or you installed add-ons that affect the behavior of Outlook. You tried
rebooting into Windows' Safe Mode. You never mentioned loading
*Outlook* in its safe mode (outlook.exe /safe) to make sure some add-on
wasn't interferring with the use of Outlook.

No add-ins installed today. In fact, no add-ins installed in the last
3 years.

You sure? Anti-virus programs can install add-ons to Outlook. Have you
looked at Outlook's add-on list to see if it is empty?
