Embedded spreadsheets

Periodically, when attempting to open an embedded
spreadsheet, I receive an error that the application
failed to open, and the spreadsheet will not open in
Powerpoint. I had this problem in Office 2000, and updated
to Office XP hoping this would fix the problem. With
Office XP, it asks if I would like to repair the file, but
I get an error saying it was unable to do so. If anyone
has any ideas, please help. Thanks.

This *may* help, but it would be handy to know the actual wording of the
error, and your PowerPoint version.
