Is there a file I can delete, that might fix this issue, the crashed module
name is the JavaScriptCore, I thought the new v.4.0.2 fixed issues with
Java.

Download the Apple combo updater and see if that will overwrite the problem
files.

Leopard:

Mac OS X 10.5.6 Combo Update (For both PowerPC- and Intel-based Macs )
<http://support.apple.com/downloads/Mac_OS_X_10_5_7_Combo_Update>

Combo updaters will install on the same version as they¹re applying‹no need
to roll back or do a clean install.

Diane,

I am also getting the same erratic behavior from Entourage and I did
download and installed updater. Still getting the same error
referring to JavaScriptCore as the culprit! :(

Anyone has come up with a solution? I wonder if I remove Safari that
will address the issue? I am going to try and report.

Shahin

Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Accounts. Switch to the
New User by logging out/in or use Fast User Switching.

Test problem in new User. If the problem goes away then you know it's in
your User's folder. If the problem exists in the New User then it's at the
base level of your system files or the application itself is corrupted.

Hi,
I too am having problems and it has been driving me crazy. If the
application core is corrupt will un-installing and then re-installing
the application fix the problem?

I had a similar problem. Below are the details. Not sure if it will give you
any clues to solve your problem. See steps below for testing.

I installed a beta version of OmniWeb (browser) and after that, I had
all sorts of problems with Entourage. I couldn't insert URLs from the
browser into Entourage and had several Entourage crashes. OW never crashed,
but I did have problems like not being able to create a new window in OW.

After I removed the beta and went back to the release version, my Entourage
problems went away.

Steps to help determine where the problem is located.

1) you can eliminate your Identity by creating a new Identity in Entourage
and see if you experience the same problem.

2) if a new Identity still exhibits the same issues, then create a new User
in System Preferences and test Entourage there.

3) If the problems still exist in the new User, it's a problem with your
Office install or your base OS files.

Well, I tried using Pacifist to replace my javascriptcore and webkit
frameworks with working ones from by following this advice:
http://lifein0and1.com/2008/09/09/howto-fix-apples-webkit-and-javascriptcore-framework-error

... which has stopped Entourage and photoshop from crashing but now my
software update and any attempts to install software from .pkgs don't
work. Looks like it's going to be a full re-install from scratch
before long (I'm still on Tiger 10.4.11, advice was for Leopard).
Javascriptcore problems seem to go back some ways for Apple - I've
found posts citing problems going back as far as 2004 -- but there
definitely seems to be something up since my last few software and
security updates that started this issue.

Do an "Archive & Install" and if that fails, do an "Erase & Install".

Archive and Install

1) Insert the Mac OS X Install Disc and double-click the Install Mac OS X
icon.

2) Follow the onscreen instructions. In the pane where you select the
destination disk, select your current Mac OS X disk (in most cases, it will
be the only one available).

3) Click Options. If you want to save your existing files, users, and
network settings, select ³Archive and Install,² and then select ³Preserve
Users and Network Settings.² If you want to erase everything on your
computer and reinstall Mac OS X, select ³Erase and Install.² You can¹t
recover erased data.

4) Click Continue.

5) Click Customize to select which parts of Mac OS X you¹d like to install,
or click Install to perform a basic installation (recommended).

Once the install has finished, your system will be at whatever level the
disk you have is. So if your Install DVD/CD disk is 10.5.0, that's what
version of OS will be on your Mac. You will need to download the appropriate
Combo Updater from Apple's site to restore the system to a higher version.
After you run the combo, allow Software Update to download and install any
additional updates.

Tiger:

Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update (PPC)
<http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10411comboupdateppc.html>

Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update (Intel)

<http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10411updateintel.html>

Hope this helps!

I found something interesting, I was using my laptop at home today, vpn'd into work and opened up entourage, not a single crash occurred.

I'm wondering if this issue could be caused by some sort of firewall rule at the office.

If other users could confirm this it would be great.
