EPM 2002 SP1 to 2003 SP1 Migration functional questions

Hi,

I have some questions about the migration of EPM 2002 to EPM 2003.
From a Technical point of view, it should not create any problems. Database
migration scripts, database partitionning scripts,...work well. Now, from a
functional perspective, I have some questions:

- Timesheet approval:
This new feature is quite interesting and I would like to set it up, but as
we have already 2 years of data entered for more than 1000 resources in EPM
2002, activating the Timesheet approval feature after the migration makes all
timesheets unsubmitted and unapproved. This means that the homepage of ach
user is filled in with "You timesheet has not been sent for period X" (or
something similar) and samething for all Timesheet approvers. Is there a way
to solve this? Having all the entered timesheets considered as submitted and
approved?

- Work day change
In MS EPM 2002, the function "Notify your Manager of a Workday change" had
an impact on the resource calendar in the enterprise resource pool, which is
great for sheduling of resources. In EPM2003, this seems to have changed and
now, when approving a work day change, it is not the resource calendar that
is modified but an administrative projects. Is there a way to use it as in
EPM 2002 (modify resource calendar and not Admin projet)?

- Login with MSP Profesionnal 2003
When the users log in using MS Project Pro 2003, there is a check box to
load resource assignments or not. If the accounts are configured to use
"Automatically detect connection state" the check box is marked as checked by
default. Is there a way to keep the "Automatically detect connection state"
setting and do not load resources assignments as default setting? (this is
mainly for performances purposes)

- Build team from enterprise prefilter
In MS EPM 2002, since we have more than 1000 resources, a pre-filtering
dialog box is opened when using the build team from enterprise feature. the
pre filtering allows to filter the resources list based on outline codes
values. After the migration, this window still apears, but when selecting an
outline code value and changing field, the selected value switch back to a
blank value, so this window is unusable. Is it a knows bug?

Thanks !!!!!

Timesheet approval -- Ask your Project Server administrator to temporarily
disable the Managed Time periods features. Open each of your production
projects and then click Collaborate - Publish - Republish Assignments,
select the "Overwrite actual work entered by resources" option, and click
OK. Ask your Project Server administrator to re-enable the Managed Time
periods features.

Work Day Change -- No, there is no default method to make Project Server
2003 to work like Project Server 2002 worked in this regard.

Login -- Ask your users to change their login accounts to "Manually detect
connection state" if this is an issue.

Build Team from Enterprise -- Have your project managers experimented with
using the Build Team feature on the Project Center page in PWA? That could
potentially eliminate this issue.

Hope these answers help.

Hi Ludo,
Just a quicky:
regarding the Login: If users switch their account to manual and then they
deselect the option 'load summary assingments' it will work. This option is
saved since a patch on SP1 and will be incorporated in SP2. Switching back to
automatic afterwards should not change this behaviour.
