MS Office 2000 is installed and working, mostly. But if I run the
installer to add new components, or to update the installation to
correct some problems, the installer fails with this error message:
Error 1322. A portion of the folder path " exceeds the length allowed by
the system.
Now the lone quote mark, NOT surrounding a path, suggests something is
wrong. But the biggest problem is, I can't do anything. I can't
uninstall it, I can't update it, I can't reinstall it, nothing! I've
tried manually deleting all the folders and registry keys. I've tried
following the steps on the MS KB to "completely remove MS Office". But
nothing works, short of re-cloning the hard drive. Which in some cases
is a simple solution. But not all, and I need a solution. Anybody know
what will work? TIA - JR
