Error for MS Vis Bas-Object library not registered - how to fix??

I have office XP Professional and am having problems with Access. When I try
to access a sample database, I get a MS Visual Basics error that states
object library not registered. I have tried to detect and repair and even
re-loaded office. I have also installed SP3 and other Access 2002 updates.
I am at wit's end -- HELP?!?!?!
