Error Message - Lost Yahoo Email

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: intel
Email Client: pop

When I hit "send & receive" on my entourage, I get an error description: "Error - Entourage cannot connect to the server. Verify that your computer is connected to the network."
"Explanation - Mail could not be sent. Account name: (name here)."
"Error: - 3260"

Of course, I'm online when this happens and able to access other internet stuff.

What really stinks is that now all of my emails in my Yahoo account are gone. It didn't leave the originals. We're talking about years of emails.

How can these two problems be fixed?

I have the same issue with my smtp.att.yahoo.com server
