Error message when adding text to bar

Microsoft Project 2000, I am trying to add text to the right of a ba
in a Gantt Chart. Don't I select "Right", then scroll down and choos
"Text1" change the text to what I want to say, and hit OK? When I do,
get a pop up that says "This value is not valid in this situation, Chic
the field to see if it requires text, a date, or a number, and that yo
typed the information correctly.

How do I do that? I thought I did...

Hi Fabric8r,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup

Try Format/Bar Styles... and in the dialog, select the type of bar eg Task, select the Text tab below. Click on Resource names in the Right row and from the pick list on the right, select Text1 (assuming this where you've put your text). Repeat as necessary for the other bar types that you're using.

Well, that didn't work either. I got the same error when I changed the
word "Text1" to what I want the text for that bar to say. (which is "23
avg per day"). Maybe there is some other place where I should change
"Text1" to "23 avg per day"?

In the Gantt Chart view, Insert/Column and look for the Text1 field. In the Text1 column (Text1 is a field in a database, you need to fill in the database), type in the text you want to show for that task.
