Has anyone received the message

The Server ""timed out. the current request did not complete successfully.

when trying to publish a site from a host server to a PC harddisk.

I have had three unfortunate occurrences happen simultaneously. I had a
harddisk failure which resulted in the loss of a site which took a long time
to build. The site is still operating on the web but I cannot make any
changes to it or copy, save or publish it back to my PC harddisk. During
the harddisk repair I upgraded from Frontpage 2002 to 2003. Also at about
the same time, the host had some sort of data corruption which seems to have
resulted in the FrontPage extensions being turned off. I am guessing that
since the FrontPage extensions are turned off on the host site, that is
preventing me from working with the site, or publishing it back to my PC
harddisk.
I don't dare turn the FrontPage extensions back on because it indicates I
will lose the data. The site is still operating on the host.
www.eastgrandpackards.org

I can access it and view it in FrontPage 2003. I can even make changes to
individual pages, but when I try to save or publish I receive an error
message. The message is

Server error: Write error on file "filename.htm.tmp"

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello Stefan,
That is really good news. It sounds almost too good to be true. Before I
Turn On the FrontPage Server Extensions I want to just make sure I
understand this.
When I turn the FrontPage Extensions back ON, I will not lose the website,
just the web specific data. I can easily recreate shared boarders, themes
and then be back in good shape.

Here is the warning on the host control panel:

Warning: Installing or uninstalling FrontPage Extensions will result in the
loss of all .htaccess files in your web area. Any directories you have
protected will become unprotected until you reprotect them.

But I would like to ask if this warning is in agreement with your statement.
Initially I thought that meant the entire site may be wiped out.

I have also started a trouble ticket with the Host to see what their
recommendation is. I am waiting for their response. My main goal is to
save this web site. There is just no way that I will have the time to
remake this site.

They are correct that any unique permissions you previously had will be lost, and will need to be restored
- but since the SE were already turned off, you have lost them anyway
Why not have them 1st try to restore the web from a backup
