error opening excel

I have a hyperlink on a form that opens an excel document.

When clicked the usual warning message appears, then when i ok it, excel
opens partially and the document freezes!

Any ideas?

Do you have more than one version of Excel on your system? Are the
correct references in VB selected?

There is only one version of excel,

I never created it using VB, i created it via a command button!

If you double-click on the excel document from Windows Explore, will
it open correctly? Have you tried disabling your virus protection/
firewall et al?
