We are currently doing a bottom's up ETC for our program, and using EVMS data
as the basis for evaluating tasks. I will give an example of a typical
scenario:
Task 1 starts 9/1/05, and ends 3/31/06, and has a budget of 100 hours/month,
which leads to a BAC of 700 hours (which is the value in our baseline work,
and work columns). 3 months into the task (so, at the end of Nov05), they
are overspending, and are projecting an EAC of 1000 hours.
We are looking to update MS project, and then bring the data into our EV
system, MPM. We originally were going to use the 'work' column in MSP, but
when the work column gets updated, it updates the spreading of hours from
start to finish, whereas we only care about data from 12/1/05 going forward.
We would be looking to add in those 100 hours from 12/1/05 going forward. Is
there anyway in project, or a work around, that enables a user to update the
work column with a new value, from one point after the start date to the
finish? We are trying to avoid the massive manual entry since this is a big
program.
Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks!
