I am new to excel and need help in creating a fomula so I can type
letter and have that correspond to a word. Example would be if cell A
is = to A then I want that to read Apple. If cell A1 is = to B then
want that to read Ball. Sorry if this is so basic but I am lost. Lj

One way is to make a list and then create
names from that list, e.g.

In K2 enter A, In K3 enter B
in L2 enter "Apple" (without quotes). In L3 enter "Ball"

Select K2:L3 and choose
Insert > Name > Create (or similar)
Put a checkmark in "Left column" only and OK.

Now, if you enter =a (or =A) in a celle, it wil display
"Apple" etc.

If you don't want the list, you can create the names
one by one with Insert > Name > Define instead.
