Export/Import facility in Access 2007

I have used the export/import facility to export and import tables from
one database to another, but now I have just tried to do the same with
forms, and it doesn't work the same.
I exported 3 forms from one database at work onto a flash drive, but was
only given the option to export as an xls(x) file. I did this and then
tried to import the same forms into another database at home, but the
forms were imported as tables!
Why is that, and what have I missed thinking I could export/import forms?

Thanks

I regularly create a new (empty) Access file and import queries and/or forms
and/or reports from a working database ...

Then I send that new "partial" file to a user, who imports these
new/modified components into his application.

This saves us having to ship the entire application back/forth.

Can you explain more about the exact sequence of commands you are using?

Hi Jeff,
what I do is to select the form, right click, export, Excel,
the select location for Form.xls(x). Thinking it would show as a form
when imported, I didn't take much notice about the xls file.
So on new database, I select Extrenal Data, Excel, the location of the
xls(s) forms, but as I said the were imported as tables, not forms.

I rather think I should have selected Database for the export location,
but as I wanted to transfer/copy the forms and subforms from the
database at work to a database at home, it was a bit difficult to do,
hence selecting Excel.

Thanks
Bob

So, exporting as Excel causes problems.

For me, importing as Access doesn't.

Whatever works!
