I know there have been numerous posts about this very topic, and believe me...
I've read alot of them, but I thought I'd just ask my specific question with
the hope of getting some help!
I know that there are issues with what Excel assumes the data is when it is
exported from Access, and that sometimes it assumes date or a calculation. I
have a field on a report called ItemLabel, which is a concatenation of 2
fields: Room and ItemNumber, with a "space|hyphen|space" added in between.
So an example of the end result would appear like "552 - 01". Both fields
are text fields because there may be combination of letters and numbers.
Needless to say, when this exports, you get a 5 digit number in its place.
Judging by previous posts, this is not an uncommon occurence.
So my questions are: Can the destination Excel file be pre-formatted so that
it contends with this? Or is there a way to export this differently so the
data appears the same after it has been exported?
I have also tried saving as a ".csv" file as mentioned in some posts, but
couldn't get that to work. It keeps trying to add ".mdb" to the file name
and an error message pops up.
Any suggestions are appreciated!
