Exporting data into an excel TEMPLATE

I want to export some data out of a project plan into an Excel Template. Can
this be done? I can figure out how to export to an excel file, but the
format is not how I want it, I want to set up an Excel template that has the
field types and spacing that I want. I want to be able to import project
data right into this template. Can this be done?

Joe,
There are various ways to do this. I'll suggest a couple, hopefully
someone else will have other suggestions.

My first choice in a case like this is to use VBA. With VBA, the desired
data can be exported and formatted (no Excel template needed) exactly as
needed. However, if you do not have VBA experience or don't know someone
who does, then this obviously isn't a good option for you.

A second approach might be to simply use the export wizard and set up
the map for the Project fields of interest. Once the data is in Excel,
It can be copied from the export Worksheet to your template Worksheet.
This does of course require extra effort on the user's part, but the
process is fairly straightforward.

Hope this helps.
