exporting emails

I recently upgraded my pc to include outlook 2000 and windows xp home
edition. I'm trying to import my emails from my last pc. I copied them
using a cd writer and exporting all pst files. I then tried to import them
to my outlook on my new pc but i'm told that i do not have permission to do
this? I'm not sure what to do next! I think my last pc had outlook 2000 as
well so the only change is the windows programme. Thanks

Copy the .pst file to your new computer (if using a CD, copy to the hard
drive and remove the read-only check from its properties) and in Outlook,
use File->Open->Outlook Data File (or Personal Folders File) - never import
native Outlook data. Always open it and use drag and drop to the
destination .pst or folder.
